To those of you at Our Saviour’s who are homebound and have little or no family to assist you in certain areas, we can help you. If you need groceries, a ride to church or perhaps a little housework done or even a meal because you are not well, please call me at 578-7690 or let the church know. I will try to help and several fine ladies have already offered to assist. If we don’t know you need assistance, we can’t help. Thank you! Elaine Thurman
GIDEON OUREACH MINISTRY
‘To show the love of Christby giving of ourselves, our talents & abilities to enrich the lives of others’
God has called us as a church to do the SAME FIVE THINGS.....THINGS we will do every day of every month of every year until Jesus comes back.God has called us to worship, outreach, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry. That's not going to change. As a church we exist for these five purposes. That's why we are here.We LIVE to GIVE these things to our Lord.
People are longing to make their lives count---to make their lives impact the world around them.We want to reach out into the local community in dynamic ways—helping to rebuild the bridges to those in need.
And that is exactly what is happening at Our Saviour’s.The challenge was put out for the VCAM food drive and was that challenge answered!!The five colored baskets were filled to overflowing which resulted in our largest food drive. Over 500 lbs of canned goods and another $150.00 in cash donations was given that will purchase another 700 lbs through the food bank. WOW!!!! We also understand the VBS kids had a lot of fun on their 'contest' on collecting the cans!!! Thanks be to GOD!!
The school supply drive will continue through September.Last year’s drive was large, but we need this years to be HUGE.Not only are the school supplies desperately needed at Shields Elementary, but we also have a goal through Lutheran World Relief of sponsoring 40 school bags to be sent to kids that are returning to school after the disruption of war or natural disaster.Your school supplies can be dropped off at the red container at the Information Desk or monetary donations can be turned in at the office. Also, a $10.00 donation will cover both the supplies and the shipping for Lutheran World Relief (LWR) projects.
The Gideon Sewing Circle ladies have been really busy sewing the quilts and lap robes. We have the experts there to help guide us novices on producing some beautiful quilts.A LWR quilt is special! It brings warmth on a cold night and shelter from the sun on a hot day.It becomes a bed, a room divider, a backpack to carry belongings, and at times even a home. It is a priceless gift!!We meet each Monday from 10am to 12noon.Watch for future 'sewing marathons' that will be put on from time to time. You are truly needed.......
Remember, Christian Outreach is about HIM, not us!!We thank God for the opportunities He is providing!
We thank you for your continued support for Gideon Outreach. Again, if there is any special project that is close to your heart, please contact Linda, 578-1191 or Brenda, 218-1873.
LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF
QUARTERLY PROJECT--SCHOOL KITS
A school kit may provide the only supplies for children returning to school after the disruption of war or natural disaster. School kits may be used in a refugee camp or may be used in adult literacy classes. The kits will contain packages of notebook paper, blunt scissors, a ruler, pencil sharpener, 10 pencils, 1 box of crayons, a 2 1/12" eraser, and 12 sheets of construction paper. Gideon Sewing Circle has graciously offered to make all of the sturdy cloth bags for the kits. If you would like to sponsor a kit, please put your donated school supplies in the Gideon School Drive or a $10.00 donation will cover both the supplies and the shipping.
Thanks in advance. Service Committee

Project Assistance
The OSL Men's Group wants the congregation to be aware that we desire to help meet the special needs of widows and others in our church who may need assistance with household repairs and projects. If you will call the church office, the staff can notify us, and we will get a group of men together to help.
